Who We Are

The Housing Authority of the City of Donna was established in 1959 and given responsibility for maintaining the Public Housing Program in Donna, Texas.

The Section 8 Program was created by the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 and later amended by the Housing and Community Development Act of 1981 and the Quality Housing and Work Responsibility Act of 1998.

The authority provides information and assistance related to:

Our Main Programs

Public Housing

Public Housing, also referred to as the Low-Rent Public Housing Program, is federally funded and provides rental assistance to eligible low-income families.

Housing Choice Voucher Program

The Housing Choice Voucher Program, previously known as Section 8, is a federally funded program that helps eligible households, including people with disabilities, obtain rental housing.

Tenant Services

Tenant services are intended to help residents succeed and improve their economic stability by connecting them with useful information and assistance.

Program Compliance

Residents are required to comply with applicable rules and regulations established by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Accurate reporting and continued compliance help protect the integrity of housing assistance programs.

Resident Support

Donna Housing Authority staff assist qualified residents with matters related to public housing and the Housing Choice Voucher Program.
